Questions

What people ask first

Do I need an exam if I see fine?

Many eye conditions cause no change in your vision at first, and glasses are only one reason to come. An exam checks how your eyes focus and how healthy they are, so it is worth having on a regular schedule even when everything looks sharp.

How often should I have an eye exam?

Dr. Saunders sets the schedule with you at the end of each visit. It depends on your age, your prescription, your health and how you use your eyes. Most adults come once a year or every other year.

Do you work with my vision plan?

We work with many vision plans and medical plans. Call or message us with the name of your plan and we will check your benefits before your visit and tell you what we find. Please confirm with your plan too, because the plan has the final say.

Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?

A visit about an eye problem, a disease check or a follow-up is billed to medical insurance, while a routine exam is billed to a vision plan. Many visits are a mix of both, and Leilani explains which part goes where before you pay anything.

Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?

Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere, online or in a shop.

Can I have my contact lens prescription?

Yes, once the fitting is finished. If a seller calls us to verify it, we confirm it.

What should I bring to my visit?

Your current glasses and contact lenses, your vision and medical insurance cards, a list of your eye drops and medicines, and a note of how far your screen sits from your eyes and how many hours you look at it.

How much will my visit cost?

It depends on what the visit is for and what your plan covers. We give you a written estimate in advance if you pay without insurance. How fees work explains each part.

Will new glasses stop my eyes from getting tired at work?

Glasses made for the distance you work at help many people feel more comfortable, but results vary. The doctor explains what she found, what may help and what a lens can and cannot do.

What should I do in an eye emergency?

Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.

Still have a question?

Call the office or send us a message, and we will answer it.
