Eye health
Checks, problems and urgent visits
For adults with an eye problem, a condition that affects the eyes, or a health check that is due.
Some visits are about how well you see, and some are about how healthy your eyes are. Dr. Saunders looks after both, and she refers you to another provider when your eyes need care we do not give here.

When you come in
Reasons people call us
A health check
A regular look at the eyes of people with diabetes, a family history of glaucoma, or another condition that can affect the eyes.
A red or irritated eye
Redness, discharge, itching or a gritty feeling. Call the office, and we will tell you how soon to come in.
Floaters or flashes
Call us right away if they are new or sudden. The doctor looks at the back of the eye to see why.
A follow-up
A return visit to see how an eye problem is doing, or to adjust what the doctor started.
How it is billed
These visits go to medical insurance
A visit about an eye problem, a disease check or a follow-up is billed to medical insurance, not to a vision plan. Leilani checks your benefits before you come and tells you what she finds. If you pay yourself, we give you a written estimate in advance.
- Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
Questions about eye health visits
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
A visit about an eye problem, a disease check or a follow-up is billed to medical insurance, while a routine exam is billed to a vision plan. Many visits are a mix of both, and Leilani explains which part goes where before you pay anything.
What should I do in an eye emergency?
Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
What should I bring to my visit?
Your current glasses and contact lenses, your vision and medical insurance cards, a list of your eye drops and medicines, and a note of how far your screen sits from your eyes and how many hours you look at it.
